Volunteering for the IronLine is not just about all the fun you’ll have, but it gives a sense of ownership of your community!

WE ARE NOW READY TO COLLECT VOLUNTEER INFORMATION!

Both now, and race weekend, there are many positions available to best suit your abilities, and desires. Being a part of an event like this gives your group an opportunity to give back to our community and also to experience something that is unique to the great northern regions. Whether it be dog handling, registration, safety team, or hospitality, you and/or your group will enjoy the benefits of volunteering.

 

Position Description # of Volunteers Needed Hours Indoor/Outdoor
Musher’s Village Set-Up/Tear-Down Prior to the race (1 week) ability to help set up tents, place trash cans, hand banners, plow walking lanes, and any other basic set-up 15 1-8 hrs during the week of the race Outdoor
Musher Registration The day of the race you will get to meet all the mushers and register them as they get ready for race day! 2 5 hours (staring the morning of race day) Indoor
Dog Handling

(14 years of age and older please)

Personally assist mushers by guiding their dogs to the starting line! (Very physical and tons of fun!) 25 6 hrs. 2 hrs of training Thursday before the race, 2 hrs Friday night and 2 hrs Saturday morning. (You can volunteer for either Friday and/or Saturday to fit your schedule. Outdoor
Security Help with parking/crowd control, fire pit management, and overall grounds safety. 15 1-12 hrs during the race Outdoor
Trail Preparation Work with our Trail Boos from fall through the January event. Groom the trail on a snowmobile, place hay bales on trail turns, and set markers. Great for the outdoor enthusiasts. 5 1-100 hrs throughout the fall and winter Outdoor
Hospitality Organize our hospitality room for mushers and volunteers. This includes organizing food trays and drinks. 3 1-15 hrs during the race Indoor
Road Crossing Guards This position is great for groups and families. Assist sled dog teams across road crossings by ensuring vehicle safety. 30 5-10 hrs during the race days (Friday evening and Saturday morning) Outdoor
