We have been getting a lot of questions on weather and how things are looking around here. Well, the winter has indeed been strange and warm, but, in the last two weeks things have looked more and more promising. We currently have a great base of snow, snow machines are on the trails, and our fatbike grooming is set to start next week. Knowing that we need a little more snow for the dog teams and sleds, we are very excited to see snow in the forecast four or five times in the next week! The Forecast is calling for a deep freeze in another week, as well, with prospective temps in the single digits to below zero at night!
As for trail conditions and course, we ARE looking at contingency trail routing to possibly take out our lake section for the 10-dog sled dog class. We think we can do this, if it is the safest option, and it won’t effect distance too much. All and all, even though the weather hasn’t been near as cooperative as last year, it looks like the races are all on and we are expecting to have a great time! Team IronLine is very excited to see all you volunteers, spectators, mushers, and fatbikers in 2016.
